Their May Pole caught fire, and burnt down several of the houses. Guy: My lord, we had some trouble at Edwinstowe. The sheriff looks him up and down, taking in the state of his clothing. Guy stands and approaches the sheriff, looking perturbed. The nobles – previously smiling and joking, now step back in submission, and the French girl immediately stops her playing. Guy sits up with a jerk, to see the sheriff storming in, completely changing the atmosphere of the room with his presence. His eyes begin to close, and for a brief moment, he looks at peace. He looks deep in thought as the lyrics wash over him, and the whole room is suddenly quiet, as though Guy and the girl are the only two people inside it. But as the camera pans across the tiny girl and the large man, one can see him visibly relax under the gentle song. He hasn’t exactly answered her question, but she bows her head demurely, and Guy somewhat awkwardly makes his way to his chair, at the right hand of the sheriff’s empty throne. Sung by myself, as my fellows prepare for the sheriff?įrench Girl: And what would you prefer? A song of war? Or a love ballad? Guy looks slightly taken aback that someone is asking him what he wants.įrench Girl: Per’aps a song then. The French girl steps forward with a small curtsey.įrench Girl: Per’aps you sir, have a request for us? We live to serve. But fear not, we have something very special prepared for him. Guy: I take it the sheriff hasn’t made an appearance yet? The music fades away as he approaches, and the troubadours look up at him expectantly. I need to see to the troubadours.Īllan nods and disappears, while Guy descends the stairs. The troubadours are playing their instruments as the nobles chatter, but the sheriff is nowhere in sight.Īllan: You don’t look too good yourself, mate.
